The Nigerian Governors Wives Forum led by the First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi wants state Governor’s to initiate laws and orders aimed at improving the welfare women, children and youths in the country.
The interactive physical meeting held Abuja yesterday was part of the Forum’s efforts in mitigating the issue of rape and gender-based violence, drug abuse, and other societal vices bedeviling the country.
The Governors wives forum also sought the support and partnership of the Nigerian Governors’ forum on the need to initiate and implement policies and laws in various States of the Federation towards pursuing justice and finding a lasting solution towards addressing the identified challenges and improving the welfare of the women, children and the youth across the country.
The Director-General the Forum Mr. Ashishana Okaru was part of the meeting to share with them the partnership opportunities available and how they can work together towards achieving the set goals in the interest of the citizen and the country as a whole.
The Governors wives at the end of their talk, visited the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Dr. Aisha Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
The Nigerian First Lady recognized the Governors Wives Forum for the good work they’re doing in their various States as well as their efforts in mitigating different aspects of social vices confronting the country.
