Bauchi State Police Command has banned all personalities including politicians from going to polling units with their security details for Saturday’s local government elections in the state.
The Command also imposed total restriction on movement of persons and vehicles between the midnight hour of Friday to 2pm on Saturday, the election day.
DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, Command’s Public Relations Officer divulged this to reporters in his office on Thursday.
Wakil said that the restrictions were part of preparations for the Saturday’s local government election in the State, saying that those on essential duties who must carry their valid identification cards are exempted from the movement restrictions.
Wakil said that the command has provided necessary security architect that will provide an enabling playing ground for all the political parties and electorates for peaceful elections across the 20 LGAs of the state.
He explained that the Command calls on members of the public to come out and cast their vote on the election day without fear of intimidation from any person or group of persons, as the police and other sister security agencies deployed will be all out to man every polling unit and to deal with any miscreant, political thugs and other disgruntled elements that may attempt to foment trouble before, during and after the election.
He cautioned all parties and persons involved in the election to observed all COVID-19 protocols during the exercise.
