African Centre for Transparency and Anti-Corruption Advocacy (Africa-taad) commends governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state, for an approval given by the State Executive Council for the establishment of Kano Anti-Corruption Institute.
In a letter signed by Executive Director Isma’ila Auwal and sent to the governor, states that, “Kano state would forever remain indebted to the administration of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for establishing the only state-owned agency that fights the corruption and for also entrusting the agency in the hand of the most appropriate person to guide its affairs.
And also for recently approving the establishment of Kano State Institute of Anti-Corruption. This is a gesture that needs to be appropriately acknowledged.”
They said, they have realised that Kano is one of the important states not only in Nigeria, but in the whole of the African continent and getting the fight against corruption in the state, “…means a lot to Nigerian fight against corruption and the development of the continent,” says the letter.
The letter reads, “This decision to establish the Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute is a symbol of the weight that the Kano state government places on the fight against corruption. We welcome the doggedness and commitment of Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado to that fight.”
It continues “…and we will continue to support any development and efforts put forward by the state Anti-Corruption and Kano state government at large to combat corruption at all levels. The fight against corruption is an investment in the future of not only Kano state but Nigeria at large.”
The Centre calls on the Anti-Corruption agency to sustain the current tempo in the fight against corruption in the state, and also for the state government to ensure full implementation of the Anti-Corruption Institute.
