Humanitarian Day is one of the important global commemorations set aside by the 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 to face the crises that the human race is faced. Marking the Bangladesh Hotel attack of 19 August 2003, this day became.
This year 2021, 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝑯𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑫𝒂𝒚 is looking at the “immediate consequences of the climate emergency for the world’s most vulnerable people and ensure that their voices are heard, and their needs top the agenda at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November”. This is a huge consideration that every organization or government needs to consider.
In Adamawa State, since the coming of the insurgency, the people have been living with humanitarian crises. Also, the reoccurrence of flooding in the riverine areas has posed a lot of humanitarian challenges. This makes this year’s focus very important in this context.
Before now, the 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐮 𝐔𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐮 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐢 led Administration has focus attention on these emergencies and humanitarian crises. More so, the 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐𝒓 through her pet project the 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝 𝘼𝙞𝙧 𝙋𝙧𝙤-𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙁𝘼𝙋𝙀𝙁), 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱𝘂 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗶 has for the past years gotten involved in humanitarian works to ease the pains of families affected by different crises.
As the world marks Humanitarian Day today, 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 calls on the people to first understand that climate justice is a good of all and a work for all.
𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗶 said “everyone has the duty to ensure the climate is safer and better. This effort starts with being aware that the world is faced with a huge climate challenge therefore in our little ways avoiding those activities that expose our climate the more.”
She calls on Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations, Stakeholders, and Philanthropists to continue the awareness of climate change so that more people will be aware of the dangers it is posing to the human race.
As most climate campaigns focused are on slowing climate change and securing the planet’s future, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri also remembers on this special day humanitarian workers who have been killed or wounded in the course trying to bring help to people. She salutes the heroism of these people and prays that they will continue to find the strength to keep on the good work. She reiterates her commitment to the good cause of humanitarian works and support for the vulnerable.
On this special day, 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 calls on people living in flood-prone areas to be watchful and pay attention to forecasts of the weather so that no one will be taken unawares.
𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 congratulates all humanitarians and humanitarian organizations on this year’s World Humanitarian Day and she calls that more hands should come on deck to salvage the human situations in all possible ways.
